| 1:8 Leadership Experience |
Join students across Kentucky for an experience that will change you forever.
Based on the missions mandate found in Acts 1:8, the 1:8 Leadership Experience is an exciting new discipleship and missions program for college students:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Participants will live in community with 26 students and will learn how to become the leaders Christ intends them to be. Emphasis will be given on leadership development and the five purposes of the church. Mornings will be filled with teaching, training, field trips, and Bible study. Students will learn from business executives, seminary professors, campus ministers, and other passionate leaders. Afternoons and evenings will focus on practical community mission/ministry experiences. A stipend scholarship of $1500 for the summer is included. You will be raising $2500 for the mission to the Dominican Republic.
1:8 Highlights:
- Daily leadership labs
- Student community groups
- Learn from business and ministry leaders
- Six weeks of community service
- One week working with the SBC's Crossover outreach.
- Two weeks in the Dominican Republic, using a water purification project to share the Living Water (fundraising required)

How can you be a part of the 1:8 Leadership Experience? There will be two rounds of interviews:
1. Local Campus Interviews: Interviews will occur on each local campus between October 6 - 31, 2008. Here are the steps you will need to complete for this process:
- Check with your campus minister to check dates and times on your campus. You may need to sign up for an interview slot.
- Complete the application (click here to download). Please complete electronically and submit via email to your campus minister. Click here for contact information for all campus ministers.
- After interviews, the local campus interview team will make decisions and let you know of the results.
2. Statewide Interviews, November 21-22, 2008 in Louisville at the Kentucky Baptist Building:
- Students who are selected to attend the statewide selections weekend should print out and distribute four copies of the reference forms (click here to download.) References should be made by your pastor, campus minister, professor/supervisor and friend. Please bring references in sealed envelopes to the selections weekend. We will be unable to place you on the team without your references!
- Dinner and registration will begin at 6 p.m., and interviews will begin at 7 p.m. (EST) in Louisville at the KBC. You will be finished by 3 jp.m. on Saturday. Meals and lodging will be provided.
- Decisions will be made after the weekend and you will be notified before Thanksgiving.
