This department seeks to equip church leaders for ministry with spiritual life and skills development. Here's how:

Events
Joshua Project
The Joshua Project equips pastors and their spouses through an intensive leadership development experience. The program helps them model the spirit of Joshua, who served as a pioneer leader, into God's preferred future.

Shepherding the Shepherd
Shepherding the Shepherd is an annual conference designed to nurture and enrich the relationship between pastors and their spouses. The conference provides a supportive and encouraging experience for personal and spiritual renewal.

Welcome to Kentucky
Just beginning your ministry in a Kentucky Baptist church? The KBC staff would like to give you a warm welcome! Whether you are new to Kentucky, new to ministry, or new to both, we'd like to extend an invitation to you to attend our "Welcome to Kentucky" event. Welcome to Kentucky events are held each spring.

Workshops
The following conference are scheduled in churches and associations upon request.

Team Structure: Committees to Ministry Teams
This workshop explores how team ministry integrates the biblical purposes of the church, and presents the vision, and paradigms for an effective transition to team ministry.

Team Foundations: Building Powerful Ministry Teams
This workshop focuses on introducing and transferring six key biblically-based principles that are practiced by high performing ministry teams.

Team Communication: Mastering the Art of Communications
This workshop is designed to increase team members understanding and skills in high performance communication.

Team Conflict: Turning Strife Into Synergy
Using biblical case studies, this workshop identifies the sources, causes and the possible outcomes of conflict and recommends how to steer conflict toward constructive outcomes.

Team Meetings: High Performance Meetings
In this workshop, ministry teams learn how to integrate the purpose, people, and process dimensions of meetings to increase the ministry impact of the team meetings.

Coaching Leadership: The Coaching Leader
This workshop helps leaders to understand and apply biblical principles for motivating, assessing, developing, and guiding the lives of people that God places in their care. By exploration of a coaching leader’s approach, mindset, and vision, we will develop a personal plan that guides the coaching relationship.

Visional Leadership: Visionary Leadership
This workshop focuses on two foundational elements of great leadership: vision and values. The leader’s personal vision and the church’s ministry vision are built upon our personal and church values. Launching from this solid base of values, we can discover God’s direction and will experience greater joy and effectiveness in ministry.

Missional Leadership: Paul on Leadership
Based on the ministry model of the Apostle Paul, this workshop helps pastors and other ministry leaders steer their churches through change and transition. As one entrusted with taking the gospel to the world, Paul experienced many transitions. By exploring several of these transition principles and strategies from Paul’s ministry, we will transfer these to individuals and churches.

Servant Leadership: Jesus on Leadership
This workshop examines seven of Jesus’ teachings, examples and principles of servant leadership. By focusing upon three major biblical concepts of serve, and equip and team, the members of the body of Christ discover, develop and deploy their unique spiritual gifts, passion and personality in ministries as servant leaders.

Thy Kingdom Come
Taken from the Lord's model prayer, They Kingdom Come is a futuring process developed for churches and associations and designed to help them spiritually prepare for a better future. Its characteristics are:

  • Spiritual/Theological Base - It is not another process borrowed from the business world and adapted to fit church life.
  • Future Oriented - The focus is discovering the future that God has planned for them, their next chapter of ministry.
  • Church Friendly - The strategy is developed around the central mission of the church: worship, evangelism, missions, discipleship, fellowship and prayer.
  • Kingdom Biased - The central message of our Lord focused on Kingdom growth, not just what goes on inside the local church or association.
  • Strengths - Knowing god as the source of our strengths, churches and believers discover, develop and deploy strengths while managing our weaknesses.

Divine Design Discovery
The Leadership Development Department utilizes numerous assessments systems to assist leaders in discovering how god uniquely created them to accomplish His purpose in His Kingdom. The discovery systems relate to God's ministry calling, to spiritual giftedness, and to our personality strengths and struggles using the DISC, StrengthsFinder, MindFrames and Myers-Briggs as the lens for our personality.

"Lead Like Jesus" Leadership Encounter
The "Lead Like Jesus" Leadership Encounter is based on the leadership model of Jesus and is designed to increase leadership effectiveness through interactive and practical lessons of servant leadership. The one and a half day interactive experience is designed to deepen and renew a leader's spiritual walk as he reflects on four dimensions of leadership:
  • Heart
  • Head
  • Hands
  • Habits.

Church Consultation
The Leadership Development Department provides customized consultations to develop leaders and to assist churches in their renewal and development. From staff development to church strategy development, we minister to a myriad of needs.
