In 1996, an exciting partnership began between Kentucky Baptists and the Greater Boston Baptist Association, expanding to all of New England in 1997-2000. Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts comprise the Baptist Convention of New England. The six states together are just over half again as large as Kentucky, with a total population of over 13 million. With 199 churches in the convention, that translates to one congregation for every 65,000 people, over 75 percent of whom do not know Christ. Special mission projects and trips to New England are being planned on an ongoing basis.
Kentucky Baptists have an exciting opportunity to serve in domestic missions through a three-year partnership between the Kentucky Baptist Convention and the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware. The partnership will focus on strengthening existing churches, associations, and state convention ministries.
The Kentucky Baptist Partnership Mission office has received invitations to participate in missions projects in Northern Brazil. An official partnership began in 2005 and will continue through 2008. Scott and Joyce Pittman, International Mission Board missionaries from Kentucky, can use the assistance of Kentucky groups on a number of important projects.
