The Kentucky Baptist Convention has joined Operation Noah Rebuild, a partnership between the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention and other faith-based organizations focused coordinating volunteers and materials to help rehabilitate homes and churches damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.

Click here to view and download a special promotional video about Operation Noah Rebuild, or click here to see a video about how the Cooperative Program supports projects like Operation Noah.

Through Operation Noah Rebuild, Kentucky Baptists hope to rehabilitate or rebuild 200 of the tens of thousands of homes that were destroyed in the heavily-damaged Orleans East area, and rebuild six Baptist churches.
  • Volunteers are needed for painting, drywallings, taping, plumbing, electrical work and more.
  • For all construction projects, volunteers must have completed the 6th grade.
  • A ratio of one adult per five youth must also be maintained.

Area 4 is bordered by the Industrial Canal on the west, Chef Menteur Highway on the south, Lake Ponchartrain on the north, and to the end of Michoud Boulevard and Dwyer Road on the east.

Kentucky Baptists interested in volunteering should call the Operation Noah Rebuild office in New Orleans at (504) 362-4604 or toll free at (877) 934-0808 at least six weeks before their proposed arrival date. Volunteers should identify themselves as Kentucky Baptists, and request assignments in Area 4. You will then be given your contact information for your housing arrangements. Accommodations include showers and bunk beds, but volunteers need to supply their own linens.

Volunteers should also contact the Baptist Men on Mission Office at 866/489-3527 (Kentucky only) or 502/489-3527.

The cost is $20 per person per night. A nonrefundable deposit of $25 per person must be submitted during registration.

Volunteers are responsible for bringing their own tools and providing their own transportation. Building materials will be supplied.

If you or your group is interested in helping one of the churches in the Greater New Orleans area, please, contact Freddie Arnold of the Baptist Association of Greater New Orleans at 504-282-1428 or freddie@bagnola.org
