Hurricane Ivan -- Food Preparation
Kentucky Baptist disaster relief volunteers open cans of food as part of meal preparations.  The volunteers set up a mobile kitchen at First Baptist Church of Bay Minette, Ala. as part of clean-up efforts following Hurricane Ivan.  The volunteers are capable of preparing thousands of meals per day for distribution directly to the public or through the Red Cross.  Photo by Green Wagers. Kentucky Disaster Relief Award Winners
Larry Koch, disaster relief associate for the Kentucky Baptist Convention, was presented the Robert E. Dixon Award; Bernard Randall, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Monticello, and Terry Shinkle, a member of Belleview Baptist Church in Burlington, were each honored with the Distinguished Service Award for their notable abilities and accomplishments as disaster relief volunteers. Rineyville Tornado - Metal Stake Impales Tree
Rineyville resident Jody Meredith rests his hand on a metal post protruding from a tree that stands next to his driveway. The post was once part of the frame of a metal building. The building was blown across Meredith's front yard by an F-2 tornado that ripped through the town early May 11, 2003.

Rineyville Tornado 2003 - Howard Smith Helps Clear Downed Trees
Kentucky Baptist disaster relief volunteer Howard Smith of Elizabethtown helps clear a downed tree from a front yard in Rineyville. An F-2 tornado ripped through Rineyville early Sunday morning, leaving destroyed homes and trees in its wake. More than 20 disaster relief volunteers responded to the scene, using chainsaws and muscle power to remove debris.
