Multi-Housing Ministries Conference Set for Aug. 8-9
Release Date: 07/16/2008

LOUISVILLE – Those involved or interested in multi-housing ministries will benefit from the Regional Multi-Housing Conference on August 8-9 on the campus of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Hosted by the National Association of Multi-Housing Ministries and Congregations (NAMMC) in coordination with the Kentucky Baptist Convention and North American Mission Board, the event is designed to equip and encourage those involved in multi-housing ministries.

“This is a great opportunity for Kentucky Baptists desiring more in-depth training for multi-housing ministries,” said Eric Allen, KBC’s director of mission service and ministries.

According to Allen, the goal of this type of ministry is to reach residents of multi-housing communities, such as apartment complexes, and give them the opportunity to be part of a local church congregation.

The conference will begin with a banquet at 6:30 pm on Friday, and will feature Chuck Lawless, dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Church Growth at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

On Saturday, breakout sessions will be offered from 8:30 am – 2 pm, and will include topics such as:

- How to Strengthen Partnerships in Multi-Housing Communities
- How to Recognize and Evangelize People Groups in a Multi-Housing Environment
- Impacting the High End, Urban Center with the Gospel
- The Growing House Church Movement

Also on Saturday, participants will have the option to minister with local churches at multi-housing sites, immediately following the conference sessions at 2 pm.

According to Allen, NAMMC decided to host six regional conferences for multi-housing ministry participants instead of its traditional national conference that has been held in prior years. The decision was based on the rising cost of travel and a desire for more localized training.

NAMMC is planning to hold a national conference every three years, but will continue hosting six regional conferences in the intervening years.

Advanced registration is required, and the cost to participate is $25 per person. The conference will be held in The Legacy Center at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at 2825 Lexington Road in Louisville.
